听力原文： The Democratic-led Senate voted largely along party lines to approve the legislation. The measure includes about 95 billion dollars to fund military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan through Sep. 30th. It also calls for withdrawing U. S. troops from Iraq beginning in October or earlier if President Bush determines the Iraqis have not met certain benchmarks including disarming militias and taking steps toward a unity government. The bill sets a non-binding goal of completing a withdrawal of combat troops by Apr. 1st of next year. Many Democrats used debate on the bill to reiterate their criticism of President Bush's handling of the war.

Key government ministers gave their consent to a merger between Air India and Indian Airlines despite opposition from leftist politicians concerned about the welfare of the airlines' employees. Indian civil aviation officials predict the merger will save more than 150 million dollars annually without any job cum. The two legacy carriers have been losing money for years despite a boom in air travel here. Indian Airlines traditionally flew domestic routes, while Air 'India was the international flag carrier. Less than five years ago India had only three airlines. There are now ten, including several low-cost carriers. The merger of the two state-run airlines is set to start March 31st, and industry watchers say the merged carriers could eventually be partly or fully privatized.

听力原文： Hundreds of protestors have taken to the streets of Dill, the capital of East Timor, chanting support for the fugitive army rebel, Alfredo Reinado. They burned tires and threw stones before being dispersed by international security forces. The protest came on the day after Australian-led peacekeeping forces attempted to capture Major Reinado at his base in a town south of Dili.
