听力原文: For new-born babies, their brain activity undergoes many changes in the first two years after they are born. At birth, the babies have only the most elementary emotional life. Newborns show an expression of disgust, for instance, in response to strong tastes, and show surprise in reaction to a new environment. They also show interest to shining and beautiful things they have never seen.
By ten months, they begin to display a full array of basic emotions: joy, anger, sadness, disgust, surprise and fear. The basic emotions during the first two years seem to be programmed by a biological clock within their bodies. When the infants' brain comes to a mature time, they will gradually possess various emotions which are more complex than ever before.
A study of brain activity in ten-month-old babies shows that their right frontal part of their brain is quite active during positive emotions and the left part during negative emotions.
