We should take the phrases as the thought group according to their grammatical functions in sentences.
The so-called “thought group” refers to a group of words closely related in meaning and grammatical structure. This group of words includes some key words and non-key words, in which key words provide key information, whilenon-key words are used to express auxiliary information.
when we read an article, we should read inthought groups instead of word by word. In other words, several words related to the meaning and grammatical structure are connected to form a more complete information and input into the brain in groups.
Adverbial clauses(状语从句) cannot be considered as a thought group.
