听力原文： Human population near the equator have evolved dark skin over many generations because of exposure to the fiercest rays of the sun. A similar phenomenon has also occurred in other parts of the animal kingdom. The African grass mouse is a good example. Most mice are nocturnal, but the African grass mouse is active during daylight hours. This means that it spends its days searching for food in the semi-dry bush in squired habitats of eastern and southern Africa. Its furry stripe's like a chipmunk's, which helps it blend in with its environment. Because it spends a lot of time in the intense tropical sun, the grass mouse has also evolved two separate safeguards against the sun's ultraviolet radiation.
First, like the population of humans in this region of the world, the skin of the grass mouse contains lots of melanin, or dark pigment. Second and quite unusual, this mouse has a layer of melanin pigmented tissue between its skull and skin.
This unique cap provides an extra measure of protection for the grass mouse and three other types of African mouse, like rodents that are active during the day.
The only other specie scientists have identified with the same sort of skull adaptation is the white tent-making hat of the Central American tropics. Although these bats sleep during the day, they do so curled up with their head exposed to the sun.

W: You know, I read about computers and eye problems recently. The article says that they are usually caused by not blinking your eyes enough.
M: Blinking？ I thought I just needed new glasses.
W: Nay. When you blink, the movement of closing and opening your eyes, even thought it happens really fast, helps moisten your eyes. It's the lack of moisture that causes the problem.
M: Oh, that makes sense. But what does it have to do with the computer？
W: People who use computers tend to stare at the monitor and blink less often than they normally would. That leads to dry irritated eyes.
M: Well, that certainly helped mine feel now. They really hurt.
W: The article I read about office workers found that the workers averaged 22 blinks a minute when relax, but just 7 a minute while looking at text on a computer screen.
M: Wow, that's quite a difference.
W: They also kept their eyes open wider, which means that moisture evaporated more quickly.

Other best-picture nominees were "A Beautiful Mind"; and "Moulin Rouge," a tragicomic musical set in 1899 Paris. "A Beautiful Mind" and "Moulin Rouge" were tied for second place with eight nominations each. The film with the most nominations often wins best picture on Oscar night. But many of the nominations for "Lord of the Rings" were for technical achievements such as visual effects, sound, costume design and editing. A sprawling fantasy adventure has never won top Oscar honors, so "Lord of the Rings" could come away with the most trophies while missing out on best picture.
