据国家统计局的一份研究报告测算，1997年我国实现国内生产总值74772.4亿元，其中公有经济实现56676.2亿元，非公有经济实现18096.2亿元，分别占整个国民经济的75.8％和24.2％。在公有经济中，国有经济实现31295.6亿元，集体经济实现25380.6亿元，分别占国民经济的41.9％和39％。在混合所有制经济中，公有经济实现增加值6517.1亿元，占国内生产总值的8.7％，其中国有成分4860.2亿元，集体成分1656.9亿元，分别占国内生产总值的6.5％和2.2％，混合经济中的公有经济比1996年增加了1.7个百分点，其中国有成分和集体成分分别增加了1.5个百分点和0.2个百分点。测算资料表明，公有经济尤其是国有经济在国民经济中长期处于绝对优势的状况发生了明显变化，非国有经济占国内生产总值的比重已达58.1％，非公有制经济在国内生产总值中所占比重已由l978年的0.9％上升到1997年的24.2％，成为保证整个国民经济持续发展的重要力量。
