听力原文: A group date differs from a traditional date in several ways. First, there are no special relationships in the group. No particular girl and boy are together all the time. Second, the group date may occur on a weekend, but it may not be planned in advance. A group of young people may decide on Saturday afternoon that they want to spend Saturday evening together. They may all decide to go to a movie, or to some other event. On a group date, no one is paired with anyone else. As a result, every person pays for his or her own expenses. This means that the girls must pay for themselves. They must pay their own admission for the movies, for a cup of coffee, or for anything else that costs money during the date.
Many young people find the group date to be a great deal of fun. The young men on a group date are under no pressure. They do not have to be with any particular girl during the evening. They do not have to pay for anyone but themselves. They do not have to be especially polite or formal during the date. Everyone can relax and have a good time. Group dates may lead to serious relationships for some members of the group. Maybe a girl and a boy on a group date find that they have a lot in common and enjoy being together. They may spend more time together, with the group, and with each other. But usually, everyone on a group date is just interested in having a good time. No one worries about a serious relationship.

Valentine's Day is approaching. Time to make a checklist:
Did you send a card? Did you make dinner reservations? If not, do you have a recipe picked out for a romantic home-cooked meal, and do you have a take-out backup in case you ruin it? Do you have your clothes picked out? Are they clean? O. K. , are they clean enough? What about candy and flowers? How about a gift? Do you have perfume or cologne ready? Did you try it out on somebody else first? Did they cough or cringe?
This is wonderful, but it can all go down the drain if you failed to arrange for the one essential Valentine's Day element that can make or break your evening: music. Without something in the background to put your sweetheart in the mood, you might as well consign yourself to a life of misery and loneliness, if you haven't already.
For those who are amorously challenged and can't seem to locate songs with the words "love" in them, here are 2 suggestions to get you reeling with the feeling. This does not guarantee a perfect Valentine's Day, but it will prevent a disastrous one. For many of you, that's close enough:
"Your Song" by Elton John
This was one of the first songs that Elton and longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin wrote together. It appeared on Elton's second album, but it wasn't released as a single until months later. Legend has it that they wrote the song while living at Elton's parents house, and the original lyrics have stains on them——probably coffee, but could be ketchup. Either way, "Your Song" is one of those irresistibly heartfelt classics that is perfect for putting on the car stereo en route to that obscenely expensive dinner at the swanky but overcrowded eatery.
"If I Fell" by the Beatles
"If I trust in you, oh please, don't run and hide; if I love you, too, oh please, don't hurt my pride." Beautiful harmonies, all right, but you get the feeling Paul and John are a little reluctant to take the plunge after being burned in the past. This is a common theme in love songs, which is why this ballad——performed in the movie "A Hard Day's Night" is perfect for that couple that is tiptoeing around the idea of commitment. Ideal for the ride home after a first Valentine's dinner together, on the way to her place.
The main idea of the passage is _______.

A. Red roses prepared for your date on Valentine's Day is highly recommended.
B. To celebrate your Valentine's Day, you need to buy a lot of things.
C. Making dinner reservation and having your best clothes cleaned is a must for Valentine's Day.
D. One essential Valentine's Day element is music.

If Australia were folded in half like a book, the Smart Highway would be its spine, forging through emptiness for 2,000 miles. Driving half of it is plenty, so I've flown to the dead center: the desert town of Alice Springs. North of "the Alice" there's barely a stoplight for 1,000 miles-a-bout the distance from Dallas to Chicago-until the asphalt meets Darwin, on the Timor Sea.
Like Germany's autobahn, the Smart has no speed limit; unlike the autobahn, it's virtually barren. Every 45 minutes or so, a roadhouse appears mirage-like on the horizon, offering gas, beer, motel-style. lodging, and a little "Where ya from, mate?" Aside from that, the land presents itself the way God made it. Hour by hour, sandy red earth gives way to spindly trees, brown escarpments, termite mounds as tall as kindergartners, and not much else. No cell phone coverage, no radio stations. There's nowhere else on earth to be so isolated while on good roads in your aver-age rental car.
The pleasure of a Stuart drive is partly in stumbling across artifacts from man's attempts to make use of the bush. Beside the gas station in Barrow Creek (kilometer 294), a wooden telegraph repeater station from the early 1870s stands abandoned but perfectly preserved by the dry desert air. There's another in the expanse north of Tennant Creek (541). Barely rusted bits of telegraph wire and antique bottles still litter the grounds of both. The eerie ruins at Gorrie Airfield (1,103) once housed 6,500 personnel in World War II. Today, there are ghostly scraps of gray bitumen leading to an old fighter runway that's over a mile long.
The walls inside most of the bush pubs along the highway are stapled over with bras, under-wear, foreign currency, and business cards-a few of mine included-left by visitors from around the world. Basic rooms cost about $ 35; given the volume of cold Victoria Bitter on tap, by bed-time most customers aren't in a state to quibble over thread counts. Just about every pit stop is run by someone who could pass as the main character in a novel.
According to the passage, Darwin in the first paragraph is _______.

A. the name of a well-known scientist.
B. the name of an island in Timor Sea.
C. the name of a city standing at the end of the Smart Highway.
D. the name of a pub in the center of Australian desert.
