Rights are either God-given or evolve out of the democratic process. Mostrights are based on the ability of people to agree on a social contract, theability to make and keep agreements.Animals cannot possibly reach suchan agreement with other creatures.They cannot respect anyone else’s rights.Therefore they cannot be said to have rights. 权利要么是天赐的，要么是民主进程的产物。大多数权利是建立在人们同意社会契约的能力之上的有达成并遵守协议的能力。动物是不可能到达的与其他生物的协议。他们不能尊重任何人的权利。因此，他们不能说拥有权利。
