听力原文:M: Hi, Kate. Mind if I join you?
W: No, not at all. Have a seat, Jack.
M: Have any plans for the weekend?
W: Yeah, I'm really excited. I'm going up to New York City for a couple of days.
M: That's a coincidence. My roommate is going to New York, too. Are you driving? Maybe you two could ride together.
W: No, I'm going to take a train to the Plain Station. I've already got my ticket.
M: So what are you going to do in New York?
W: I'm visiting a friend I met last summer at the last music camp. Remember I went to a music camp in Vermount? I shared a camp with Laura and she's just moved to Manhaton. So I'm going up to see her new place.
M: You two probably have a lot to talk about? Didn't you tell me you were from New York?
W: No, I'm from California. I've never been to New York before. I'll give you three guesses on what we are going to do Saturday night.
M: Something to do with music, I bet.
W: Right, we are going to hear the New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center.
M: Wow, I wish I could go with you.

听力原文: As the car industry develops, traffic accidents have become as familiar as the common cold. Yet their causes and control remain a serious problem that is difficult to solve.
Experts have long recognized that this discouraging problem has multiple causes. At the very least it is a problem that involves three factors: the driver, the vehicle and the roadway. If all drivers exercised good judgment at all times, there would be few accidents. But this is rather like saying that if all people were honest, there would be no crime. Improved design has helped to make highways much safer. But the number of accidents continues to rise because of human failure and an enormous increase in the number of automobiles on the road. Attention is now turning increasingly to the third factor of the accident—the car itself. Since people assume that accidents are bound to occur, they want to know how cars can be built better to protect the drivers.

A. The driver.
B. The vehicle.
