MostoftheAfricancountriesliveinsubhumanconditionsbecauseoftheextremepoverty, upheaval,hunger,disease,unemployment,lackofeducationandbothinexperiencedandcorrupt administrations.ThedevastatingconsequencesoftheAIDSepidemicinthosecountriescould improveiftheinfectedpopulationweretoreceivefreedrugstocontrolthedisease,haveaccesstohealthprofessionalsandgetinformationonhowtopreventitsspread.Butthiscanonlybeachievedthroughinternationalhelpprogramsinwhichleadersoftheworld’srichestcountriesdonate medicineandalsosenddoctorsandnursestotreatandeducatethoseinneed. Moreover,mostofthepoorcountriesrelyonsellingagriculturalproductsandrawmaterialsto richnationsandbuyingindustrializedproductsfromthemresultinginahugefinancialdeficit. Consequently,theyborrowasignificantamountofmoneyfromtheWorldBanktotrytoimprove theirbrokeneconomies,butsometimesthemoneydisappearswithnosignificantchangesandtheycannotevenpaytheinteresttothebank.Recognisingthisasanissuethatwealthycountriescan resolve,lastyeartheG8,whichiscomprisedofleadersoftheeightrichestnations,decidedto forgivebillionsofdollarsworthofdebtowedbytheworld’spoorestnations.Inaddition,they developedadequateloanprogramstofinanciallyassistthosecountries.
